A Doll House

In A Doll House we watch Nora Helmer be treated like a child in a Victorian era living room.  Her husband refers to her as birds and squirrels (0:20 and so on).  This old-fashioned way of thinking is reflected in the scenery in Acts One and Two.  But as the play progresses to Act Three, the set is modernized as is the protagonist’s way of thinking.

  1. That is some interesting symbolism going on! I love it when stories do things like that. The environment sort of reflects the internal thoughts and progression of one of the characters. Nice analysis!
